A Brief History Of Our Company
In 1981, a fireplace store opened on Johnston Road in Ballantyne, Charlotte, NC. From the 1990s onward, the company expanded into Greenville, SC, North Charlotte, and then Raleigh. What began as a seasonal fireplace store that sold lawn and garden furniture in the summer months has since evolved into the Carolinas' premier destination for high-end outdoor furniture, outdoor kitchens, and top-quality fireplace and hearth products.Why The Name Change?
Like many businesses with a long history, our name told the story of where we had been. For over forty years, we operated as The Fire House Casual Living Store. It was a name with heritage, but also quite a mouthful. Supercalifragilistic is shorter! More importantly, the name no longer reflected who we are today. After all, we do not put out fires and we do not make subs. But all jokes aside, it was time to evolve.
Why Viridien Patio + Fireplace?
In 2022, we redefined our brand to reflect and define our essence. We chose "Viridien," inspired by Viridis (Latin for green) and its Italian meaning, verdant. It embodies nature's beauty, vitality, growth and renewal, a perfect fit for our vision of creating beautiful outdoor living spaces that grow and flow with our clients needs. Even though we changed our name, we are still the same company with the same great quality and superb customer service. The only difference is a shorter, simpler name.

SOUTH CHARLOTTE - Store Manager Claudia Santos leads our team of Design Consultants: Bob Kressler, Renn Guthrie, Brooks Jenkins, Mona Hall, and Joanna Balseca. Our Ballantyne showroom, the longest-serving Charlotte, NC location, first opened its doors in 1981.
GREENVILLE, SC - Store Manager and Lead Designer Matthew Perreira is joined by Design Consultants Al Harrell, Maranda Hammond, Justin Miller, Carolyn Baile, and Danielle Meseika. Since opening in 1999, this showroom has been the go-to destination for outdoor living in the area for more than 25 years.
RALEIGH - Serving the Triangle since 2001! Meet your Raleigh team: Design Consultants McKenzie Casey, Julian Riley, and Luzianne Lee, along with White Glove Delivery and CPR experts Shawn Ryan, Jermol Burr, and Kenneth Rowland. NORTH CHARLOTTE - Opened in 1990 at 6620 W. WT Harris Blvd., this showroom found its new home in 2021 at 7025 Smith Corners Blvd., just a mile away. The relocation brought an upgraded, awe-inspiring showroom designed to elevate the customer experience. Meet design consultants Dyan Velez, Melissa Uslick, Rene Simons, Hannah DeGraffinreed, lead designer Dixie Oberg, and store manager Kelly Adams.
The Cornelius Vine Concept Store - Opened on May 22, 2025, is the newest addition to the Viridien group. Located just off Exit 28 on I-77, the showroom showcases over 20 outdoor furniture collections you can mix and match, ready-to-install outdoor kitchens, and personalized design services. Our Design Consultants Cynthia Gaston and Justin Bright are here to help you bring your outdoor vision to life.
